Bee Ambassadors

City Growers’ Bee Ambassadors is a paid summer apprenticeship for Brooklyn youth aged 14-18. The program focuses on apiculture (beekeeping!), green jobs, and environmental justice.

City Growers’ Bee Ambassadors will:

  • gain practical skills to maintain a healthy honeybee hive

  •  learn to identify native/invasive plants and pollinators

  • deepen understanding of native ecosystems and the ecosystem benefits of native fauna and flora

  • investigate environmental justice issues such as air and water pollution, food access, and climate change

  •  explore green job sites in New York City through weekly field trips

  •  practice essential job skills as an apprentice while making $16/hour

Schedule:

9:30 AM - 3:30 PM, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, starting on Tuesday, July 9th, 2024 and continuing until Wednesday, August 14th, 2024*** Pending potential funding, we may also include 9:30AM - 1:30PM on Thursdays.

Tuesday sessions will take place at Brooklyn Grange Rooftop Farm at the Brooklyn Navy Yard (located at 63 Flushing Avenue, Building 3, Suite 1105, Brooklyn NY 11205)

Wednesdays will be reserved for field trips to relevant green job sites around New York City.
