Growing food from seed is one of the most fulfilling acts. It seems magical that a tiny carrot seed can transform into such a substantial root. Thanksgiving comes at the end of the harvest season in New York, and provides a wonderful opportunity to reflect and give thanks for the bounties of the past year.
We’re thankful for the urban farmers, community gardeners, and rooftop beekeepers who bring verdant life and healthy produce to concrete-dense urban spaces.
Most importantly, we’re thankful for the children and young adults of New York City, for reminding us every day that the world is a magical place – the kind of place where, with the right ingredients, a tiny seed can grow into a strong, vibrant carrot.
