Farm Education Internships
City Growers’ Rooftop Farm Education Interns facilitate environmental and food education programs at Brooklyn Grange rooftop farms in Brooklyn and Queens. Past interns have gone on to secure positions at City Growers, Brooklyn Grange, Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture, Queens County Farm Museum, Edible Schoolyard NYC, Local Roots, Food Corps NY, Harlem Grown and Farmigo.
What makes a Great City Growers Farm Education Intern?
A strong desire to learn more about environmental education, urban agriculture, rooftop farming, and food justice; positive attitude around children and young adults of all ages; prior teaching experience or experience working with children/teens; gardening/farming experience; knowledge of sustainable practices and basic biological processes; strong interpersonal skills.
Internships run seasonally (spring, summer & fall) April through November. Interviews take place March, May/June and August. Interns are asked to commit to 2-3 days a week, 5 hours a day, for the duration of the season.
