Brooklyn Bee Corps
Brooklyn Bee Corps is a paid summer apprenticeship for local youth aged 14-18. The program focuses on apiculture (beekeeping!), urban ecology, and green jobs. Apprentices will work in live hives, go on field trips, and learn to identify native/invasive plants and pollinators. At the end of the apprenticeship, participants will gain a deep understanding of the connection between pollinators, plants, and the ecosystem benefits that they provide, as well as the practical skills to maintain a healthy honeybee hive.
City Growers’ Brooklyn Bee Corps Apprentices will:
– apprentice in beekeeping with a certified beekeeper
– gain green job skills in native plant conservation and restoration
– have the opportunity to extend their beekeeping work through honey/wax business planning
– explore opportunities in green jobs through field trips
The program runs from July 20th – August 18th. Apply now!
