City Growers harnesses the wonders of nature to increase environmental and food literacy, cultivate curiosity, and provide transformative experiences for urban youth. We use urban agriculture to teach kids about where food comes from and why it matters.
As the world’s population becomes increasingly urban, it is imperative that cities become more sustainable. City Growers deepens urban students’ understanding of the environment and the problems that face it, inspires stewardship, and empowers youth to participate and compete in the growing green jobs sector.
Everybody eats, but few people think about how that food got to their plates. City Growers uses urban agriculture to contextualize food’s origins and provide a framework where kids can explore the health, environmental, economic, and human rights implications of the local and industrial food systems.
